Loan tenure is how long you repay a loan. Given principal (P), annual interest rate (r), and monthly EMI — tenure in months = log(EMI / (EMI − P × r/1200)) ÷ log(1 + r/1200). Example: ₹5 lakh loan at 12% annual interest with ₹15,000 monthly EMI → tenure ≈ 37 months. Shorter tenure = higher EMI + lower total interest. Longer tenure = lower EMI + higher total interest. For home loans, maximum tenure is 30 years. For personal loans, typically 5 years.
