NBFC EMI Auto-Debit — FAQ
How does UPI AutoPay work for NBFC EMI auto-debit?
At loan disbursement, FastFee sends the borrower a UPI AutoPay mandate link via WhatsApp. The borrower authorizes the mandate once using their UPI app (PhonePe, GPay, Paytm, BHIM). From the first EMI date, the EMI amount auto-debits on the due date every month — no action from the borrower or NBFC staff. Failed debits trigger automated WhatsApp follow-up.
What NBFC loan types support auto-debit EMI collection?
FastFee supports auto-debit for personal loans, business loans, vehicle loans (2-wheeler, 4-wheeler), gold loans, microfinance group loans, MSME loans, and education loans. Each loan type has its own EMI amount and due date configured in FastFee. Multi-product NBFCs can run all loan types from one dashboard.
What happens when an NBFC EMI auto-debit fails?
FastFee automatically: (1) Sends a WhatsApp notification to the borrower. (2) Retries the debit the next working day. (3) If failed again, moves the account to the relevant DPD bucket (Days Past Due). (4) Escalates follow-up intensity based on DPD — soft reminder for 0-30 DPD, field visit for 61-90 DPD. Staff can log a Promise-to-Pay (PTP) date when borrower commits.
Can auto-debit be set up for variable EMI amounts?
Yes. FastFee supports fixed-EMI loans (same amount each month) and reducing-balance loans (EMI amount changes as principal reduces). For each loan, the EMI schedule is configured upfront. FastFee debits the correct amount for each month automatically.
What is the maximum UPI AutoPay amount per EMI?
NPCI sets UPI AutoPay limits by category. For loan EMI repayments under the financial services category, the limit is typically ₹1 lakh per transaction. For higher-value EMIs, NBFCs use NACH (National Automated Clearing House) via bank mandate, which FastFee also supports alongside UPI AutoPay.
How does FastFee's NBFC auto-debit compare to NACH?
UPI AutoPay (eNACH) is faster to set up — borrower authorizes via smartphone in under a minute. Traditional NACH requires physical signature and 7-10 days for bank processing. FastFee supports both: UPI AutoPay for new loans and digital-first borrowers; physical NACH for borrowers without smartphones. Both feed into the same DPD dashboard.
Can the borrower cancel an auto-debit mandate?
Yes — borrowers can cancel a UPI AutoPay mandate from their UPI app settings. FastFee detects mandate cancellation and alerts the NBFC's collections team. The account is moved to manual follow-up in FastFee's defaulter tracking workflow. This is rare when borrowers are current on payments.
