Yes. A convenience fee is a charge for a service, and GST at 18% generally applies on the fee amount. Confirm treatment with your CA.
Can I charge a convenience fee on UPI?
UPI person-to-merchant payments typically have no MDR for small merchants, so a fee is harder to justify on UPI. Many businesses apply it only to card or wallet payments. Disclose any fee upfront.
Is this tool free? Do I need to sign up?
