Why applications get rejected
Most rejections come from mismatched names between Aadhaar and other documents, blurred uploads, the wrong certificate format (state vs central), and missing proof of a relative’s caste or of years of residence. Make sure the applicant details match Aadhaar and that every scan is readable.
Fees, time limits and exact document lists are set by each state, often under a Right to Service law. The portal links here are the official state portals; if your state is not listed, use the National Government Services Portal or your district’s website.
Frequently asked questions
How long is an income certificate valid?
It depends on the state and the purpose; commonly 6 months to 1 year. Scholarships and admissions usually ask for a certificate of the current financial year.
What is the difference between an OBC certificate and OBC-NCL?
An OBC certificate proves your caste. The OBC non-creamy layer (NCL) certificate also confirms your family is below the creamy layer (₹8 lakh income test excluding salary and farm income), which is required for OBC reservation. Central jobs need the central format.
Who is eligible for an EWS certificate?
People not covered by SC/ST/OBC reservation with family gross income below ₹8 lakh in the previous financial year, who do not own 5 acres or more of farmland, a flat of 1,000 sq ft or more, or residential plots above the notified limits.
Can I get these certificates online?
Yes. Almost every state issues digitally signed certificates through its e-District or Seva portal, and you can also apply at a Common Service Centre.
Is this tool free? Do I need to log in?
Yes, it is completely free and works without login on any phone. Nothing you type is uploaded; it stays in your browser.
Is FastFee a government website?
No. FastFee is a private Indian fintech. These free tools summarise official rules and always link to the official government portal, where the final decision is made.
